Duncan Toys - 3D Packaging

Duncan is a toy brand founded in 1929, during the Great Depression. They have a long heritage of making quality skill toys and claim the titles of "The Original" and "Wolrd's #1." My aim in this project was to create 3D models and branding to match this prestigious brand heritage. All forms seen here are made and rendered in Cinema 4D with supplemental elements from Adobe Illustrator.

A major factor behind the branding was the historic American roots of this company. Because I wanted to show both history and quality, I chose to make these boxes out of wood with a paper wrap-around and a sliding front. This packaging was made to be used and reused and, just like the toys inside, it was made to last.

The colors were based on their American heritage, hence the red white and blue. The painted patterns on the side of each box each correspond with shapes found from the toy inside. Similarly, the red circle and shapes on the paper wrap are also inspired by the toy shape.
